Outplacement services – redundancy support workshops

As a specialist in job applications and understanding and communicating a person’s value to employers, I can provide a uniquely positive approach to redundancy support. I’ve helped people to both progress in their careers and make career changes. I’ll deliver advice that is informed by these examples.

My offering is rooted in up-to-date knowledge of recruitment and selection practices and business management, so it will correct some of the myths and negativity that are easily accessible online.

From experience helping people to get selected for jobs, I will inspire and motivate people first and help them develop the skills required to achieve their next move – whatever they decide that may be.

Support for workers at risk of redundancy

Some employees may not have applied for a job in a long time. They may not have an up-to-date CV or the knowledge of how to create one. Those who have been with you the longest may be the most uncertain of their future. And, more recent hires may fear that the short tenure on their CV could be a disadvantage.

Ultimately, it’s a stressful process for everyone, but it can be made into a positive experience.

I’ll help all employees to address their fears, understand the opportunities for them, and successfully access the next step for them.

Develop skills to move into your next role

This is a supportive and motivating service that helps groups of workers to move on to a suitable role without stress.

This is best done as a mix of an introductory presentation, group workshops and one-to-one support to help each person achieve their objectives and allay their individual concerns.

Outplacement workshops

A single workshop or series can include:

  • CV writing
  • Job application forms
  • Interview techniques
  • Any other assessments and selection processes
  • LinkedIn profile writing
  • Networking
  • Career management

We recommend the CV writing masterclass as a start. This session delivers value on its own by building confidence and job application skills. A full outplacement service involves all of the subjects listed above, with emphasis on whatever is of most importance to the group.

For numbers above 20, these are best done as a series of opt-in events with each session running more than once and the employer encouraging attendance and ensuring time is allocated. I have delivered sessions from 7.00am till 9.00pm in such circumstances, to ensure all workers can attend.

Usually, we combine group workshops with individual-specific advice. The exact format of the service, timings, and duration can be discussed and adapted to suit.

Outplacement talks

A motivational talk to improve and reassure workers at risk of redundancy. This can form the beginning of a wider outplacement programme.

I’m experienced in delivering outplacement work that develops confidence and skills in employees to move on to the next chapter of their careers.

FAQ: How should you support workers when making redundancies

It is important not to assume that anyone will be ‘fine’ because they are skilled at what they do. What matters is their confidence and ability to convey that to a new employer, business partner, investor, or set of stakeholders and customers.

That’s why a comprehensive package of services tailored to individual challenges and concerns is the only effective solution.

Reviews of my outplacement services

“Graeme attended our site during a difficult time for our employees and provided a first-class service. Working in group sessions and one-on-one he developed CVs for different abilities of individuals. From warehouse operators to office staff, some with CVs already and some with blank sheets of paper … Graeme made sure everyone got to a high standard. In addition to the CVs, Graeme provided extra support with interview techniques and social media profiles to give everyone that little advantage they may need. The majority of employees have since found new employment and I am sure that the work that Graeme did with the individuals helped to get that foot in the door and stand out from the crowd.”
