I’ve developed an opportunity for people and organisations to do exactly that by funding services that make a proven difference to the lives of disadvantaged people.
You can support a school, charity, or voluntary, community, or social enterprise by funding the delivery of resources or in-person delivery of a series of practical workshops on the subject of How to get selected for the job you want.
Social value or CSR with proven results
These workshops and resources are proven to deliver an uplift in both confidence and competence in job applications across three crucial areas:
- Understand your value.
- Communicate it effectively.
- Understand how employers make decisions.
Our before and after survey showed:
The participants increased their:
- Ability to explain their relevant personal achievements.
- Knowledge of how to communicate these to employers.
- Belief that they can write an effective CV (from ‘4’ to ‘7’ out of 10 on average and ‘9’ in some cases).
- Understanding of how job applications work and how employers make decisions.
They increased their confidence in their ability to get chosen for the job they want.
Agreement with ‘If I wanted to apply for a job now, I would know how to’ rose from ‘4’ to ‘7’.
Particularly pleasing was that students with the lowest initial scores increased the most. Individual scores rose by as much as from ‘1’ to ‘7’.

Online career lesson resources for teachers to deliver – for one school for one year
A series of three lessons called ‘How to get a job: Understanding and succeeding in job applications.’
Multi-modal content including videos of me providing insights and expertise and full lesson plans.
Recommended for years 10-13. Designed for use by careers professionals or tutors.

A programme of support across multiple year groups or community groups
If you want to make a big difference to several whole year groups in a school or several groups in a community, then this is the package for you.
It can be delivered to a mix of audiences e.g. students, parents, and community groups.
It provides the time to learn (and unlearn harmful limiting beliefs), apply the learning, and get one-to-one advice direct from me.
A full range of relevant subjects can be covered: Understanding your value, planning job applications, CVs, application forms, cover letters, interviews, presentations, videos, competency questions, and other forms of assessment.

What needs
do we meet?
There are strong community needs across the UK which include:
- Educational deprivation for a variety of reasons. I help those who have never understood their worth to find it and start articulating it clearly.
- Poverty and social deprivation.
- Employment deprivation. Where there are fewer local jobs. People have to make the difficult choices of competing for the small number of jobs that exist, or doing something that isn’t ideal for them, or moving away.I can help people to widen their access to opportunities and compete effectively in the jobs market by knowing specifically how to get themselves selected.
Impact
Social value work is only worth doing if it makes a difference. The results above show that the effort I have put into creating these programmes is paying off.
It improves outcomes for schools. That is measures by destinations – the successful transition to higher education or work or training.
More of the students gain the job or training that they want. It reduces the chances of people becoming ‘NEET’ (not in education, employment, or training).
We will always measure the impact of our work via a before and after survey and request the destination statistics to evaluate the ultimate success of the programme.
How this adds value to existing efforts
There are commendable efforts going on all over the UK to increase jobs, improve skills and training, and recruit from deprived areas.
But, the people who most need these jobs will only benefit if they are able to get chosen in the recruitment process. That’s why I’m here. The results show that this works wherever it is done.
